At Parkland Community Church, we hold to these three common values:
The man Jesus is also God, or Christ, and died on a cross in our place, paying the penalty for our sins; three days later He rose to conquer sin and death and give the gift of salvation to all who believe in Him alone for eternal life. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
This is a great summary of the gospel. That God Himself came to rescue and restore us through the work of Jesus Christ. We are to see our lives in light of that good news that even though we have all turned our backs on God, he took the form of a servant to rescue us from our own sin dying on the cross to save us.
Upon understanding this good news, we seek to worship God in everything we do. The way we talk, the way we walk and the way we work is in light of Christ’s work on the cross. We ask the question, “Because Jesus loved me and went to the cross for me, how should I respond in this moment?” Through our everyday actions we give praise to God and worship God in all our actions.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20
We believe the church has one mission, to share the gospel to all people so others will know of the saving grace of Jesus in their lives. We base our hope on this truth and pray that people will worship and love Jesus till the day they die. We want as many people to know Jesus so they can have the opportunity to respond to hearing the gospel.
We don’t exist for any other purpose than to build up people in the faith and helping them know the gospel in a greater capacity each day. This is the mission of the local church and we’re excited to participate in the mission and be on the front line, telling people how much Jesus loves them.
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14-16
We must tell others of the far-reaching love of God through as many means possible! This means we don’t only talk the talk but we also walk the walk. If we believe God has saved us and came to give his life in place for our life, we respond by giving our lives for others. We do this by serving our community in concrete ways to tell them of Jesus who we love so that they would also surrender their future to Jesus to follow Him wherever He may lead them.
