Dear God, please let me be strong like Jesus, when he was tempted by satin. Thank you for my family and friends, keep them all safe during this pandemic. Amen


QUESTIONS PARENTS CAN ASK CHILDREN

  1. Who did John say was coming?(The Saviour of the world was coming soon)
  2. What did John do at the Jordan River?(He baptized people who asked for God’s forgiveness 
  3. Who came to the Jordan River to be baptized?(Jesus)
  4. What did Jesus say to John when he tried to talk Jesus out of being baptized?(It should be done to carry out God’s wishes)
  5. What happened when Jesus came up out of the water?(The Heavens opened up and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove came down on Jesus)
  6. What did God say?(This is my dearly loved son who brings me great joy)
  7. What did John believe?(That Jesus was the chosen one who would take away the sins of the world)

Craft

Materials for craft

  1. Kleenex box
  2. Popsicle stick
  3. White paper
  4. Blue construction paper
  5. Markers/crayons
  6. Scissors
  7. Tape

Directions

  1. Cut top off of Kleenex box and cut a slit in the bottom of the box
  2. Cut 1 or 2 sheets of construction paper into small squares and crumple them up for the water and put into the box
  3. Draw a small person and colour it
  4. Tape person onto the popsicle stick and put popsicle stick through the slit in the box
  5. Pull popsicle stick so the person goes into the water like a person does when they get baptized and then make the person come up out of the water

IDEAS TO DO WITH YOUR CHILDREN DURING THE WEEK

  1. Talk about what baptism means
  2. If you have been baptized tell your child about it and how it made you feel or meant to you
  3. Talk to other people you know who have been baptized
