At Parkland Community Church, we exist to develop people who love Jesus and serve others for Kingdom Growth!
For Growth and Gospel
People ask me why I’m so caught up on defining the mission of our church. The reason is because I believe that wherever you focus your attention, you will go. If the church forgets its purpose, then we will begin to search after many different things and fall into what has been labeled, ‘mission drift’. It may not be as noticeable or as scary as falling asleep on the road and ‘drifting’ into the shoulder, but for any church, business or organization, it can be just as deadly for the health of that group of people.
The church exists for one purpose. The church might express that in different ways but when fully boiled down, we exist to make the name of Jesus great. We do this because we believe that there is no other way to Heaven and to be made right with God except for believing what Jesus has done for you, dying on the cross and paying the price of rebellion against God, and following him. We express this at Parkland Community Church by “developing people who love Jesus and serve others” incorporating the two greatest commandments as Jesus gave in Matthew 22:37-40,
“And he said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.’”
My prayer for you is that you find a gospel-centered, bible-believing church that is focused on making the name of Jesus great and proclaiming the person and work of Jesus in a way that helps you understand what has been done for you, despite of you and in the end, completely for the good of you! We think Jesus has done the greatest thing for us and so we respond by developing people, showing them how to love Jesus and how to serve others as he has asked us to.
